"During the pandemic, every Friday, my Mom and Dad drive me to get a gourmet popsicle. I really love ice cream because I get to spend time with my family. Thinking about all the different flavors like chocolate, strawberry, pineapple, and of course cotton candy makes me forget about all the things that are happening in the world right now. I hope this artwork inspires you too for a big dip of ice cream."

"My art represents the feeling of joy because many people associate the feeling with different colors, whether it be a vibrate colors, a cool colors, or a neutral colors. To me, painting and trying out different techniques for art brings me joy. This is why my art represents the feeling of joy.”

"I created this piece because I wanted to make something that expressed my feelings of joy. We live in a big and bustling city, that's constantly moving and changing. So for me, I feel joy when I experience calm and peacefulness. This flower and lily pad, represent the stillness that brings me joy. “

"My goal for this piece was to create an abstracted coastal landscape. The beach is a place that always brings me joy, I am truly happy sunbathing and listening to the waves. I enjoyed rendering something abstract to express joy experienced in the perfect vacation spot.”

"This abstract peace that I made reflects the colors that bring me joy as well as creating artwork like this brings me joy. From adding the paint and making the brush strokes with the different colors then adding big and little details.”

"I know that the prompt is the feeling of joy, however through my own personal journey, I have realized that joy is a difficult emotion to find in myself. I have struggled with mental health for many years, and I wanted to create a piece that reflects how I have felt joy through the years, the use of mood-altering medication being a large factor. I wanted to show how I used to feel joy through artificial means.”

"Joyfulness in a Sea of Blue"
Sutton Middle School: 7th Grade

"In life we are faced with sadness. The best way to cure sadness is simply with joy. In my piece, I have shown sadness in the background with different blues, to go with my statement I have digitally drawn vibrant and warm circles. To me the circles symbolize joy. Because the 'joy' is in bright colors, it outweighs the sadness or the feeling of 'blue'. In my opinion we need to feel more joy, now more than ever.”

"As I began this piece, I played a shuffle of music. I drew out and outlined what I felt and heard while listening to the songs. I mainly listened to songs by the band 'I Don’t Know How But They Found Me' and the 'Gorillaz' which greatly influenced the style of this piece. The title of this piece is a mix of two songs from each band. I really enjoyed creating this piece, it was the most fun I had this week."
